Universities New Zealand submission to the review of Archives New Zealand, The National Library of New Zealand and Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision
17 August 2018 | submissions
Universities New Zealand has made a submission to the Ministerial Review of Archives New Zealand, The National Library of New Zealand and Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, on behalf of all eight universities.
The submission outlines the universities' views on the challenges facing the three organisations, particularly the fact that leadership, influence and shaping of information governance at a systems-wide country level is missing as New Zealand considers and develops policy and legislative positions on internationally relevant subjects such as privacy, copyright, publicly funded research data, open science, open access, etc.
It also suggests opportunties for the institutions to work more effectively together, and detailed the universities' views on what the public might need in the next 30 years from the national archival and library institutions.
